Help Free Danita Corbin

Danita Corbin came from a background where abuse and molestation was the norm. Her mother was in an abusive marriage. When she left, she found herself gravitating towards unhealthy relationships that had been normalized for her in childhood.

At 29, Danita was involved in a crime where a man's life was taken. She may not have been the one who did the actual murder, but she was there until she was arrested because my ex-partner claimed she stole his car. She was scared and protected her son when her co-defendant tried to force him to go along with him to get gasoline.

Danita has been in prison for 28 years. She was only 29 years old when she first went to prison and is now 54 years old. Because she was sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole, she will likely die in prison if something does not change. The only reason why she received this much time was because she rejected a plea agreement from the prosecutors for a lesser charge and sentence and opted for a jury trial and because her co-defendant, Benjamin Hammonds, falsely claimed she was the mastermind of this murder.

So we ask that you sign this petition for Danita’s conditional pardon where she is seeking to get her sentence commuted to 43 years in prison, which is the same sentence Hammonds received. Your support can help Danita return home to her family and community.
